We thought initially this was the Sickle-leaved Wattle, "Acacia falcata"; however, leaves do not really match, so final analysis, "Melaleuca nodosa".

Wooli wildflowers Sept 2011

  • "Homoranthus virgatus", Twiggy Honey-myrtle. Greyish appearance to plants. Leaves opposite and linear. This is a genus of 22 species of shrub in the myrtle family. Apparently, none are common. May have white or pink petals. There is only one flower in the Park that looks like this. Please refer page 66 of Barry's book.
  • "Conospermum taxifolium"
  • Pink Waxflower, "Eriostemon australasius". Small shrub with narrow waxy leaves which are silvery underneath.
  • Flannel flowers.
  • Blue Damperia, which Barry thinks is "Dampiera stricta".
  • Blue flax lily, "Dianella sp.". I am not sure we have seen the congesta, and will look for its features, dune, forming a mat, and flowers not above the leaves.
  • Pink kunzea, "Kunzea capitata", note long multiple stamens. See other purple flower, Purple Paperbark further along in gallery.
  • We thought initially this was the Sickle-leaved Wattle, "Acacia falcata"; however, leaves do not really match, so final analysis, "Melaleuca nodosa".
  • Native Candytuft, "Trachymene incisa".
  • "Astrotricha longifolia", the Star-hair Bush.
  • Coral Heath, 'Epacris microphylla'
  • A Wallum Sun Orchid, in the early morning before opening to the sun's rays. See later in the gallery for springtime photos.
  • "Patersonia sericea".
  • Native Iris.
  • "Goodenia sp." probably "stelligera"
  • "Goodenia sp."
  • "Hakea sp." probable "Hakea dactyloides" (BK), although this looks pretty similar to me to the "Hakea laevipes" seen previously. See previous note, now in May, 2013, final diagnosis "Hakea laevipes".
  • We initially thought this to be Scrub beefwood, "Stenocarpus salignus" which grows in rainforest. We now have correctly identifed this as "Hakea florulenta". The other "Hakea sp." we have seen in the Park are the "H. laevipes" and the "H. actites". All are shown in the gallery. According to Barry's book this plant, the "H. florulenta" has broader leaf-like phyllodes, and longer flowers.
  • "Leptospermum ? polygalifolium" Yellow Teatree. I think the leaves distinguish this from the "L. liversidgei", the Lemon-scented Swamp Teatree, however the reddish rims at the base of the petals more in keeping with "L. liversidgei). Leaves are lemon-scented.
  • Hairy Pea Bush, "Pultenaea villosa". this golden pea is very common, especially along the roadside to Wooli, where it gives rise to the impression that "the streets are lined with gold".
